Vespa LXV 150
Since opening, the Vespa LXV 150 has been our best selling scooter. Of the 150’s, it is also the most expensive Vespa model, and it comes in just two colors, Sienna Ivory and Portofino Green. Just a few hundred more dollars and you could be on a screaming GTS 300 Super with its neck snapping speed. In terms of popularity, however, the LXV wins hands down.
So what makes this Vespa the favorite? We think it is the small details of the LXV that provides that feel good spark that makes a Vespa that must have item. The small fly screen, the old-school speedometer, the polished chrome handlebar, and the traditional two person divided seat are all details that are only found on the “V” versions of the 150 and 250. Touch the sumptuous Italian leather seat and it almost transports you to Florence, Italy where some of the finest shoes are made in the world.
The 150 engine is just about the perfect size for Memphis city streets. Cruising down Poplar or Walnut Grove is a cinch in the 150. Give the motor just a few hundred miles to break in, and the 150 has all the power you need. There are only two frame sizes for Vespas. The smaller size, which is what the 150 uses, is light enough to make it easy to whip around for a short jaunt to the store. When you combine it with a 150 engine, however, you get a great combination for commutes from East Memphis to Downtown.
Trying to find one of these used? Good luck. Used Vespas for sale disappear quicker than twinkies in a crowded classroom of 1st graders. We tell our customers that you might be able to save a few bucks riding something Japanese or Korean, but if you ever decided to get rid of it, you’ll end up just paying the price anyway. Take a look at Kelly Blue Book for a Kymco or Yamaha scooter, and then compare it to a Vespa. It’s just simply not a contest. Stop by Metro Moto to check out the LXV (if we have any in stock!!). Pictures don’t do it justice.
