Vespa GTS 300 Super

With the debut of the GTS 300 Super this year, the new Italian “Wasp” packs a bigger sting than the GTS 250, upping displacement to 278cc, making it the fastest scooter yet for Vespa, with a max speed of 80 mph. The speed of the GTS 300 Super allows for an easy zip onto Sam Cooper Boulevard, and then onto I-240, easily merging into traffic, or a rigorous tour through the streets of Millington up to the General Store in Shelby Forest.   Don’t kid yourself if you have never ridden a scooter before that this is simply a scooter to hop on and cruise around town.  There is some serious power in the GTS 300 that will make you see stars if you hit a turn too fast and find yourself wishing you had bought that Corrazo jacket with the built in armor!

The GTS retains much of its predecessor’s highlights, the GTS 250, including a more stable and confident road ride delivered from large 12-inch wheels. The GTS frame is the same Vespa-trademark sheet metal frame. Along with the extra large wheels, the GTS 300 Super features a few sporty touches such as a side grill on the rear engine panel, a red-colored spring on the front shock, and two-tone alloy rims. The headlight is black-rimmed and the air intake is chrome. Read through the boards, blogs, and reviews, and most enthusiasts say this is the best handling Vespa ever made.

While we find the LX 150 is a perfect companion for Memphis surface streets, the GTS 300 Super provides the scooterists with some extra high speed punch, and with a larger stance that suggests more business than pleasure. If you’re into the classic styling, we suggest looking at the GTV250. If your tastes tend to be more classic modern, the GTS 300 Super is a perfect bike. Vespa makes this model in just three colors: White, Black, and Dragon Red.
